Why we’d goPolperro's scale, small, owner-operated, unhurried, is the thing itself, not just a selling point; the room rewards the kind of afternoon you don't try to plan.
Polperro feels smaller and more intimate than some of the region's trophy estates, which is exactly its appeal. The cellar door is tucked into the vines with a line of sight over the ridge, the pours are thoughtful, and the whole place carries the tone of a producer that cares more about the wine than the performance around it.
The cellar door pours Polperro and Even Keel wines. Pair a tasting with lunch and you have one of the gentlest half-days in Red Hill South.
For a midweek visit, choose Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The restaurant and cellar door are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Polperro earns its reputation quietly. Sam Coverdale's winemaking is unhurried and honest, and the winery identifies Talland Hill as its vineyard certified organic and biodynamic in 2019. Its single-vineyard wines let the different sites speak. The Red Hill property brings a restaurant with a hat and accommodation in the vines - one of the Peninsula's most complete stay-and-taste propositions.
