Tootgarook is a bayside village between Capel Sound and Rye, with a shallow Port Phillip beach and public wetland walks at nearby Tootgarook Bushland Reserve.
Tootgarook sits between Capel Sound and Rye on the shallow Port Phillip bay coast. Behind the village, the Tootgarook Wetland is a significant freshwater habitat. To explore a public part of it, use the council-managed Tootgarook Bushland Reserve: its access points lead to short gravel tracks, boardwalks, bird hides and viewing platforms. Dogs are prohibited in the reserve. The bay beach offers a different outing; Rye is nearby for a longer food stop. Check current reserve and beach conditions before setting out.
