The Sanctuary at Alba solves the problem that Peninsula Hot Springs never quite did: until June 2025, staying near the hot springs still meant leaving the springs to sleep. The Sanctuary puts five standalone villas and two premium studios on the same 15-hectare coastal dune estate as Alba Thermal Springs, so the thermal bathing is not a day-trip you bolt onto the stay, it is what the stay is built around.
Interiors by KWD Design (Kate Walker, Mt Martha): stone baths, log fireplaces, Aesop toiletries, complimentary minibar with Ten Minutes by Tractor wine and St Andrews Beach Brewery. Listed on the Michelin Guide and Mr and Mrs Smith within months of opening. Named by Gourmet Traveller as one of the 25 most exciting openings of 2025.
The correct comparison is not to PHS Glamping, different operator, different thermal precinct, different price tier. The Sanctuary is the Peninsula's most complete thermal-anchored luxury stay, and it is a new category leader.
