Why we’d go

The thirty seconds between your bed and the thermal pools at dawn, before the day visitors, before the queues, is the stay's entire argument.

The glamping-and-lodges precinct at Peninsula Hot Springs is the Peninsula's closest approximation to a genuine wellness retreat stay. The canvas pods sit physically inside the hot springs grounds, not a nearby hotel, not an adjacent resort, but within the precinct itself, which means that the thirty-second walk to the Spa Dreaming Centre first thing in the morning, before any day guests have arrived, becomes the most memorable part of the experience.

Ten tents across garden-view, lake-view, and secluded pavilion settings, with heated geothermal concrete floors, king beds, private decks, and full all-site bathing access including the Spa Dreaming Centre. Ages 16 and over; no dogs. The Eco Lodges at the same site are the enclosed version of the same proposition for when canvas is not the brief.

Book a two-night package. Arrive mid-afternoon, bathe at dusk, eat dinner at the on-site Amphitheatre restaurant, and return to the pools before bed. The pre-opening access in the morning is the reason to stay over. Do not waste it by sleeping in.

If you only do one thing

Book a two-night mid-week stay, set your alarm for 6am on both mornings, and be in the Spa Dreaming Centre pools before the day guests arrive, that hour is the entire reason the glamping format exists.

A Winter Peninsula Weekend: The Case for Coming in July

13 April 2026

Short days, cheap rooms, empty dining rooms, a fire in every cellar door with a hearth, and a coast that looks like a different country in a southerly. Winter is the Peninsula's most underrated season and the one that gives the region back to the people who actually live here.
