The Mornington Day: How to Treat the Gateway Town as the Destination
5 April 2026
Forget pressing on to the vineyards. A well-built day in Mornington - market, coffee, gallery, foreshore - is one of the cleanest Peninsula visits you can make.
Big-room Italian on Mornington's main street, large-format pasta finished tableside in a wheel of parmesan, a loud dining room, and the weekend's most fun long lunch.

Why we’d goThe Peninsula's most unashamed Italian room: no apology for the portion sizes, the volume, or the mirrored walls, and none needed.
Mr Vincenzo's is the Peninsula dining room that knows exactly what it is and leans in. The space is big, loud, and deliberately theatrical, 1970s Italian vibes throughout, mirrored walls, dim lighting, waiters who know what they are doing and are not precious about it. The kitchen does classic southern Italian generously: gnocchi finished tableside in a wheel of parmesan, pasta portions built for sharing, osso buco, a proper tiramisu.
It is not subtle cooking, and the room is not trying to be quiet. Come with friends, order too much, drink too much, walk home along the Mornington foreshore before you regret any of it. The wine list is all-Italian, well-priced, and runs deep enough to reward a second bottle ordered on impulse rather than deliberation.
Book a week ahead for weekends. Ask for the corner table if you want to feel like you own the room. This is the best argument for a Friday night in Mornington.
Worth knowing
If you only do one thing
Book a week ahead for a Saturday night, ask for the corner table, order the parmesan-wheel gnocchi, and do not refuse the tiramisu.
