Mornington Farmers' Market

A monthly bayfront produce market that knows what it is and stays close to its growers.

The Mornington Farmers' Market runs on the second Saturday of each month and is the best functioning produce market on the Peninsula, smaller and more consistent than the Red Hill market, closer to the growers, and set on the bayfront at Mornington Park where the walk in is already half the appeal.

Come for the stone fruit in summer, the apples and pears in autumn, and the steady year-round presence of Peninsula cheese, eggs, oils, and preserves. A handful of the Peninsula's best small producers sell here without venturing further, this is where to buy from them directly, before they sell out to the regular crowd. The grower-direct format means better prices and better conversations than a retail shop.

Arrive by nine. Bring bags. Combine it with coffee at Commonfolk on the way out and you have one of the cleanest Saturday mornings the Peninsula offers.

9 April 2026

The long lunches get the headlines. But the Peninsula's first hour of the day - the flat white, the croissant out of the oven, the eggs on a working bakery's sourdough - is the quieter, better-value half of the food story. Here is where locals go, and the order to do it in.
