Tuck's Ridge

A founding Red Hill estate, mid-1980s, renewed focus on single-vineyard Pinot Noir and a deck view to Western Port that earns the drive.

Why we’d go

Tucks Ridge is the quieter alternative to the busier cellar doors on Main Ridge, same founding history, same views, fewer people competing for a table on the deck.

Tucks Ridge was planted in the mid-1980s, placing it among the Red Hill corridor's founding estates. The property has been through a quiet repositioning under a refreshed team in recent years, the focus has sharpened back onto single-vineyard wine, and the Turramurra Pinot Noir is the expression to understand the estate by. It's the kind of wine that rewards the effort of getting there, which is not something you can say about every cellar door on this ridge.

The deck view to Western Port is one of the better vantage points in the hinterland, genuinely earned rather than framed by a purpose-built structure. On weekends the kitchen runs small-format food pairings, which makes a tasting into something more substantial without tipping into the full lunch territory. If you're visiting mid-week, check the website for current hours before you drive, the opening schedule can run tighter than the bigger operations on the Peninsula.

Book a tasting, stay for a glass of the Turramurra Pinot after the flight is done, and use the deck.
