The Peninsula with Kids: A Day That Doesn't Punish Anyone
10 April 2026
A working plan for parents who want the region to feel like a holiday, not a logistics problem. One lookout, one lunch with a garden, one beach, one coffee on the way home.
Former horse-training stables turned sprawling brewery destination, wood-fired kitchen, acres of lawn, and Sunday roasts all year round.

Why we’d goThere is no more satisfying brewery format on the Peninsula: heritage buildings, open lawns, a kitchen that takes its food seriously, and enough beer range to cover an afternoon.
St Andrews Beach Brewery occupies a former racehorse training property, the brew house sits roughly where the stables once stood, and the lawns extend out toward what was the exercise track. The setting alone would pull visitors, but the operation earns its reputation through the food and the beer in equal measure.
The kitchen runs wood-fired pizzas, loaded burgers, and a rotating Sunday roast, the kind of cooking that holds its own rather than playing second string to the drinks list. The core beer range covers expected territory well: pale ale, lager, red ale, and session sour, all brewed on-site. Weekend afternoons the lawns fill quickly, and the back-beaches crowd mixes with day-trippers who came specifically for the Sunday lunch.
Book ahead for Sunday in summer, tables go earlier than you'd expect for somewhere this large. Come with a group if you can; the format rewards it. Check the website for seasonal menu additions and any ticketed events before you visit.
Worth knowing
If you only do one thing
Book the Sunday roast and claim a lawn table, order one of each core beer on arrival.
