Winter Wine Weekend, Full 3-Day Peninsula Program
The whole King's Birthday weekend treated as one program. Saturday's Winter Wine Festival at Red Hill Showgrounds, then two days of self-guided cellar doors, long lunches and masterclasses.
Saturday is the Winter Wine Festival at Red Hill Showgrounds ($90 GA, the centrepiece). Sunday and Monday open up: 40+ wineries running their own programs, walk-in cellar door tastings, masterclasses with winemakers and proper sit-down lunches at the big restaurants. The three days are designed to be done together.
For couples or a group of four. Book accommodation in Red Hill, Merricks or Dromana now, the rooms go six weeks out. Lock one big lunch per day (Polperro, Ten Minutes by Tractor, Montalto are the names) and let the cellar doors fill the rest.
Dress for cold rain. The festival pavilion is dry but the cellar door drives are exposed and June is the wettest month on the ridge.
