Polperro Dolphin Swims has run marine wildlife tours from Sorrento Pier for over 20 years, operating small-group in-water dolphin encounters and seal swims in Port Phillip Bay. The operator holds marine mammal interaction licences from DELWP and uses a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) to reach dolphin populations in the Bay. Groups are capped at 12 participants, keeping encounters genuinely intimate.

What they are good at
In-water dolphin encounters delivered reliably in small groups with experienced marine guides. The pier-based departure removes much of the logistics anxiety, and the format is well-suited to families with children aged 8 to 14 who want a genuine wildlife experience rather than a passive boat cruise.
Not suited for
Families with children under 8 who want to swim, and guests seeking a spectator-only wildlife experience. Anyone with a strong aversion to cold water should note that Port Phillip Bay temperatures range from around 13 degrees Celsius in winter to 22 degrees in summer.
