Why we’d goSorrento Gelato is the window on Ocean Beach Road that everybody in Sorrento joins the queue for at least once per visit, and once is never enough.
Sorrento Gelato is the window on Ocean Beach Road that everybody in Sorrento joins the queue for at least once per visit. The flavours are classic Italian done properly, pistachio, stracciatella, hazelnut, seasonal fruit rotations that track what is happening in the hinterland gardens, and the queue moves fast. The staff have done this more times than they can count and the service reflects it.
There is nothing more to say. It is excellent gelato in exactly the right location on the Peninsula's most cheerful main street. The evening queue is part of the summer Sorrento rhythm in the same way that the bakery queue is part of the morning ritual, you do it, it is good, and then you do it again the next night.
Go after dinner. Get two scoops. Walk toward the front beach.
Worth knowing
If you only do one thing
Go after dinner and get two scoops, the pistachio and whatever the seasonal fruit flavour is.
