Why we’d goThe producer behind a lot of what ends up on Peninsula restaurant plates, the farm-gate shop is open for anyone who wants to source the same ingredients directly.
Peninsula Fresh Organics is the producer behind a lot of what ends up on Peninsula restaurant plates, and the farm-gate shop is open for anyone who wants to source their own ingredients straight from the ground. The range rotates with the season, leafy greens, roots, herbs, tomatoes in summer, brassicas in winter, and a small dairy fridge alongside the vegetables holds Peninsula-made cheese, butter and yoghurt when available.
The shop is utilitarian and the prices are honest. This is not a polished retail experience; it is the working end of a serious organic farm, and that is exactly its charm. Stop in on your way to a Peninsula kitchen and you will cook a better dinner than most restaurants on the ridge. The certification is genuine, this is a working organic operation, not a marketing claim.
Check opening days before you drive, the farm operates to a working schedule rather than retail hours.

If you've booked a villa with a kitchen, you've booked one of the great food sourcing weekends in Victoria. Here is the shopping circuit - market first, bakery second, wine last - that actually does the region justice.

The best picnic on the Mornington Peninsula is not a hamper from a winery gift shop. It is a morning circuit through three or four producers, a blanket on the right patch of grass, and a long afternoon that costs half a restaurant lunch.
