Why we’d goThe easy, undersold answer to where to eat on the bayside when you have been at the beach all morning.
Martha's Table is the easy, undersold answer to where to eat on the bayside when you have been at the beach all morning. The room sits across the road from Safety Beach with the sand-line visible through the front window, the deck catches the afternoon sun, and the all-day menu leans modern Australian without trying to compete with the ridge dining rooms on complexity.
Order the oysters, share a couple of the small plates, and take a glass of something crisp to the deck before the main course lands. Lunch works better here than dinner, you want the light on the bay, and the kitchen cooks well enough that a quick stop easily turns into a two-hour sit. The raw bar is the strongest argument on the menu.
The Red Gum BBQ of the bayside stretch in its own way: reliable, unpretentious, and exactly the right solution to an April afternoon with the bay in front of you.
