Why we’d goThe cellar door you find by being told about it, appointment-only, no restaurant, no theatre, just Tod Dexter and thirty years of accumulated Main Ridge pinot knowledge.
There's no signage to speak of, no restaurant attached, and the tastings are strictly by appointment. What you get in return is one of the most rewarding hours in Main Ridge: Tod Dexter himself or his team walking you through a focused range of pinot noir and chardonnay that has been built over three decades.
The wines are quietly structured, long on fruit, a bit austere when young, superb with four or five years on them. The estate is small by Peninsula standards, and the approach is deliberately unflashy. If you want sculpture gardens and lunch menus, go to Montalto. If you want to understand why people keep collecting Peninsula pinot, book here.
Appointment essential. One of the most honest cellar door experiences on the ridge.
