Allis operates on a low-waste, small-plate format: vegetables straight out of the Ten Minutes kitchen garden, offcuts from the main restaurant deliberately integrated into the menu, and a wine list built to drink rather than to study. For many people who know the Peninsula well, it is quietly the better meal of the two, and it takes a booking a fraction as hard to secure.
The room is deliberately relaxed, a wine bar rather than a dining room, and the point is the honest exchange between the kitchen and what the garden is producing that week. Go in solo for a glass and two plates at the counter. Go as a couple for a slow dinner on a quiet weeknight. Either way, the cooking rewards attention without demanding it.
An underrated Peninsula room. If Ten Minutes is fully booked, do not treat Allis as consolation, treat it as the real find.
