Moorooduc & Tuerong Wineries

Moorooduc and Tuerong occupy the north-facing slopes above Port Phillip Bay — lower altitude than the Red Hill plateau and appreciably warmer. The bay moderates temperatures; the soils here are lighter and better-drained than the heavy clays of the interior.

The result is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that's approachable earlier than the cooler subregions, with riper fruit expression and rounder textures. Yabby Lake is the prestige name — its single-vineyard Pinot Noirs attract serious collector interest. Dromana Estate and Moorooduc Estate represent the solid, consistent mid-tier.

Cellar doors in this corridor are generally more accessible from Melbourne and open more regularly than the plateau producers — a good entry point for first-time Peninsula visitors.
