Cellar Doors 6 June 2027 Annual

Mornington Peninsula Winter Wine Weekend

The region's winter cellar-door weekend - fires lit, whites cellared, and the one time of year you can walk into the top 20 wineries without an appointment.

Worth the drive First timer All weather

Winter Wine Weekend is the single best cellar-door weekend the Peninsula runs. 40+ wineries open their doors across the long weekend in June, most of them with fires lit, set menus in the tasting rooms, and the winemakers themselves behind the bar rather than junior staff. It is the closest the region gets to the way Piedmont or Burgundy runs an open-cellars weekend.

The strategy: pick a two-property day rather than trying to hit six. Allow an hour and a half per visit. Book lunch at one of the bigger restaurants (Ten Minutes by Tractor, Polperro, Montalto) in the middle of the day, and keep the second tasting for late afternoon when the fire rooms are at their best.

Mid-June is the cheapest Peninsula weekend rate of the year for accommodation. Book the bed, then the lunch, then the tastings.

Keep planning

Peninsula This Weekend 18 to 19 July

July sits in the quieter stretch of Peninsula winter, and that is the point. The lead booking is a truffle hunt at Red Hill. Sunday is for the sculpture park at Pt. Leo.
