Arthurs Seat Eagle runs 24 gondolas along a one-kilometre cable from the valley floor to the highest point on the Mornington Peninsula, 314 metres above sea level. The ride takes approximately six minutes and opens up views across Port Phillip Bay and the Peninsula hinterland that are not accessible any other way.

It opened on 3 December 2016, cost $20 million to build, and has been fully operational since returning from a brief COVID-era administration period in 2020. Multiple travel publications still list outdated pricing: the current adult return fare is $32.50, not $30.90.

The Enchanted Adventure Garden

Situated on the same hill (accessed from 55 Purves Road, Arthurs Seat), the Enchanted Adventure Garden is a separate attraction with separate ticketing. It covers 25 acres and includes:

  • Five giant tube slides
  • Canopy Walk
  • Sky Scramble (children under 135cm)
  • 20+ themed gardens including an Enchanted Lake

Combining the visit

Arthurs Seat Eagle and the Enchanted Adventure Garden are on the same hill but are different businesses with different carparks and different entry points. You can do both in a day: the Eagle ride is around 20 minutes return, giving you the morning for the Adventure Garden and the afternoon for other Peninsula activities.

The hill is in the northern hinterland, well placed for:

  • Red Hill wineries: Foxeys Hangout, Green Olive, Many Little are 10–15 minutes south
  • Ashcombe Maze: 20 minutes south-east at Shoreham
  • Peninsula Hot Springs: 25 minutes south towards Fingal

The Arthurs Seat Summit Lookout is also accessible by car or on foot from the eastern summit road: the view from the top is the same you get from the gondola, and it’s free.

Getting there

795 Arthurs Seat Road, Arthurs Seat VIC 3936. From Dromana, follow Arthurs Seat Road up the hill: the Eagle is well signposted. Parking on-site.
