Why we’d go

Brigitte Hafner's farmhouse osteria is the rare restaurant where the whole room eats the same thing, and you don't wish it were otherwise.

Tedesca is Brigitte Hafner's long-imagined farmhouse osteria and it has arrived fully formed, a single set menu, one sitting for lunch and one for dinner, the wood oven doing most of the talking, and a dining room that feels like it has been there for decades rather than months. Everyone eats the same thing. You'll love what they send out.

The cooking is rustic-Italian in spirit but nowhere near as casual as that suggests. Pasta is rolled in the morning. The garden feeds half the menu. The wine list leans into small producers who share Brigitte's insistence on food that tastes of a place. It is among the best lunches the Peninsula has ever offered.

Book a month out. Lunch over dinner. Bring cash for the tip jar.

A Winter Peninsula Weekend: The Case for Coming in July

13 April 2026

Short days, cheap rooms, empty dining rooms, a fire in every cellar door with a hearth, and a coast that looks like a different country in a southerly. Winter is the Peninsula's most underrated season and the one that gives the region back to the people who actually live here.
