Why we’d go

The Mornington Hotel is not the meal you tell visitors about. It is the meal you end up at when the plan falls through, the kids are hungry, and everyone is about to start arguing, and it delivers.

The Mornington Hotel is the big Main Street corner pub and the default meeting point when you want something unfussy in the middle of town. The bistro is reliable, good parma, solid schnitzel, a steak that will not embarrass anybody, a surprisingly honest fish of the day, and the bar runs busy, loud, and social without ever losing its grip on the neighbourhood.

It is not the meal you tell visitors about when they ask where the best dinner on the Peninsula is. It is the meal you end up at on a Friday night when the plan fell through, the kids are hungry, and everyone is about to start arguing. It delivers, it absorbs, and everyone leaves full. The Mornington Hotel understands what it is for and does it without apology.

Use it as your bayside fallback. It rarely lets you down.
