**EAT / DRINK - St Andrews Beach Brewery, Fingal**

St Andrews Beach Brewery is housed in the old racehorse training stables on Tucks Road, and spring is the moment it makes the most sense. The lawns that run out to the exercise track are finally usable, and the kitchen is running its Sunday roast - which is worth booking a week ahead if you want a table outside.

The brewery converted the stables without gutting the character: timber, corrugated iron, long benches, and enough space that it never feels like a beer shed. The core range covers a pale ale, lager, red ale, and session sour. Order a tasting paddle first, then commit to whichever one you’d drink a second of. The wood-fired pizzas are a reliable lunch; the Sunday roast is the reason to plan around it rather than drop in.

Allow two to three hours if the weather holds. Book the roast ahead - walk-ins for lunch mid-week are easier. Tucks Road, Fingal.

Pair it with a drive down to Point Leo Beach before or after.

**EXPERIENCE / WALK - Bushrangers Bay Track, Cape Schanck**

The Bushrangers Bay track is at its best in the two weeks either side of mid-October, when the coastal scrub along the Cape Schanck headland is carrying its peak spring flowering. Hakea and coast tea-tree are through; the guinea flowers and heath are mid-run right now.

The track starts at the Cape Schanck Lighthouse car park on Boneo Road and drops through banksia woodland to the basalt platform at Bushrangers Bay itself. The full loop is approximately 6 km. At low tide the rock platform is accessible and the surge channels are worth the scramble. Take the left fork at the base of the descent to reach the bay first, then return via the higher ridge path - that direction gives you the better coastal views on the return leg.

Allow two hours at a relaxed pace. Morning starts avoid the worst of any northerly. No booking required; the car park fills by 10 am on fine weekends. Cape Schanck Road, Cape Schanck.

Combine it with the Sunday roast at St Andrews Beach Brewery, twenty minutes back toward Fingal.

**DISCOVERY - Breast Foot Forward Community Walk, Safety Beach to Martha Cove**

This is the kind of Saturday morning event that most visitors drive straight past. The Breast Foot Forward walk runs Saturday 17 October from 8:30 am and follows the foreshore from Safety Beach and Anthonys Nose down to Village Green - routes of 10 km and 5 km respectively, both finishing by midday.

It is a community fundraiser with a genuine local following, not a produced event. The course runs the foreshore path that locals use year-round, but with a few hundred people doing it together the atmosphere is entirely different. The 10 km start at Safety Beach Sailing Club is the better route: it runs the full sweep of the bay foreshore before the morning sun gets too high, and the last kilometre into Martha Cove is flat and easy.

No particular gear required. Register through Humanitix before Saturday - the link is below. Start time is 8:30 am sharp at Safety Beach Sailing Club for the 10 km option; Anthonys Nose for the 5 km.

The Dromana foreshore is ten minutes away for coffee and a meal afterward.
