## EAT - Many Little, Red Hill South

Many Little is the Peninsula’s most persuasive argument for the sharing menu format right now, when the kitchen is pulling spring vegetables from the Polperro estate and building them into dishes that take tamarind, curry leaf, and coconut alongside local Pinot Noir.

The Sri Lankan-influenced menu from the Polperro team doesn’t gentle itself down for a wine-country crowd. The hoppers arrive hot and slightly lacey at the edges, the sambols carry genuine heat, and the natural wine list was assembled specifically to hold its own against those flavours. In spring the kitchen adds asparagus, broad beans, and early stone fruit to a menu that already has strong bones. Ask the floor team to pair the wines - the cross-cultural collision only lands fully when you commit to the whole program.

Book for dinner, request the full sharing menu, and allow three hours. Many Little is at Polperro Winery, 150 Red Hill Road, Red Hill South. Bookings essential through the Polperro website.

Pair dinner with a walk through the Polperro vineyard rows at dusk before you sit down - the vines are just breaking bud in October and the light on the ridge at 6pm is worth arriving early for.

## EXPERIENCE - Mornington Peninsula Rail Trail, Baxter to Mornington section

The 17-kilometre Rail Trail from Moorooduc to Mornington is at its best in the first two weeks of October, when the coastal tea-tree along the Baxter cutting flowers white against the dry scrub and the wattles that line the Red Hill Road underpass section are still throwing gold.

The trail follows the old Mornington branch line corridor, which means it is almost entirely flat and largely sheltered from the bay wind that makes the foreshore walks unpleasant on a southerly day. The Baxter to Mornington section - roughly seven kilometres - is the most rewarding single stretch. Start at the Baxter Tavern carpark on the Frankston-Flinders Road, head south-east toward Mornington, and the flowering scrub is densest in the first two kilometres through the cutting. Early morning before 8am gives you the sharpest light and the coolest walking. The path surface is compacted gravel throughout, suitable for road bikes and prams.

No booking, free access. Allow ninety minutes for the Baxter–Mornington section at a walking pace.

Finish at the Mornington end and drive up to Main Street for coffee before the market crowds arrive on a Wednesday.

## DISCOVERY - Acoustic Saturdays at Peppers Moonah Links, Fingal

Acoustic Saturdays at Peppers Moonah Links is not a ticketed event and not a cultural programme that requires advance reading - it is a simple, well-executed thing: a local or regional acoustic act on the lawn from 5pm to 8pm, the Moonah Links bar open alongside, and the golf course going amber behind you as the October evening cools.

It runs every Saturday through to 26 December 2026, which means this Saturday, 10 October, is one of the warmer early-spring iterations - cool enough for a jacket at 7pm, warm enough to stay outside for the full three hours. The format suits a mid-visit wind-down better than it suits a destination night out. Drive up from the bay after a beach afternoon, find a table on the terrace, and let the set lists do the navigating. The acts vary week to week; check the Shire events page or contact Peppers directly to confirm who is playing on 10 October.

Peppers Moonah Links is on Peter Thomson Drive, Fingal. No ticket required for the music; bookings recommended if you want a table for food and drinks. Doors from 5pm.

Pair with a late-afternoon drive along Browns Road through the fairway corridor before you arrive - the Norfolk pines along the Links boundary are at their greenest in October.
