For a dog-friendly meal on the Mornington Peninsula, start with the permitted seating area. A courtyard café, a pub deck and a winery lawn can all work, but a normal table booking may not reserve a place where your dog is allowed.

**The quick shortlist:** Commonfolk for a Mornington courtyard café; Flinders Hotel for a pub deck; Stonier for a Merricks cellar-door lawn; Main Ridge Estate for a prebooked outdoor winery visit; Green Olive for farm dining; and St Andrews Beach Brewery for a Fingal beer garden.

We checked the official pages linked below on **18 September 2026**. “Confirmed” refers to a published dog-friendly policy. Seating remains subject to availability. This guide concerns pet dogs; assistance-animal access is a separate matter.

## Confirmed dog-friendly options at a glance

Venue, town and type | Published dog access | Booking detail to know |

[Commonfolk Coffee](<https://www.commonfolkcoffee.com.au/pages/locations/mornington>), Mornington café | Back courtyard, with side access | Bookings available; tables also kept for walk-ins. Ask for the dog-friendly area. |

[Flinders Hotel](<https://flindershotel.com.au/faqs/>), Flinders pub | Deck; dogs must stay on a lead | Reservations recommended. Seating requests are not guaranteed. |

[Stonier Wines](<https://www.stonier.com.au/about-us>), Merricks cellar door | Dogs welcome on the lawn | Walk-ins welcome. Confirm the day’s food offering if you want lunch. |

[Main Ridge Estate](<https://mre.com.au/book/>), Red Hill winery | Outdoors; on a lead; maximum one dog per booking | The dog must be prebooked. |

[Green Olive at Red Hill](<https://www.greenolive.com.au/>), Red Hill South farm and winery dining | Venue describes the farm as dog-friendly | Bookings offered for groups of two or more. Confirm your dog’s seating area. |

[St Andrews Beach Brewery](<https://standrewsbeachbrewery.com.au/visit-us-fingal-brewery/>), Fingal brewery | Outdoor beer garden; dogs must stay on a lead | Some beer-garden and bar tables are kept for walk-ins. Request a dog-suitable table. |

Rain cover for the permitted dog seating was not established by these sources. If the forecast matters to your plans, ask whether a covered dog-friendly table can actually be reserved. For venues that do not specify a lead rule in the linked policy, ask directly; bring a lead and keep your dog close.

## Cafés: coffee or a meal with the dog

### Commonfolk Coffee, Mornington

The back courtyard has a side entrance for dogs, a useful detail when you want to avoid walking through the café. The venue offers both reservations and walk-in tables. Specify the courtyard when booking rather than assuming any available table will work.

### Green Olive at Red Hill, Red Hill South

Green Olive combines farm produce, wine and dining and explicitly welcomes dogs. It is an option for a longer food-and-wine stop, but confirm the table allocation and dog conditions with your reservation. The dog-friendly statement does not establish access to every indoor or outdoor space.

## Pubs and breweries

### Flinders Hotel, Flinders

The published policy is specific: dogs are allowed **on the deck and must be leashed**. Its FAQ recommends booking and says location requests are not guaranteed. Mention the dog and ask the venue to confirm a suitable table before relying on the reservation.

### St Andrews Beach Brewery, Fingal

Use the policy for the **Fingal brewery**, rather than another venue bearing the brewery name. Dogs are welcome on leads in the outdoor beer garden. Walk-in tables are available, but an open outdoor area is not an off-leash exercise space.

## Cellar doors and wineries

### Stonier Wines, Merricks

Stonier explicitly welcomes dogs on its lawn and accepts walk-ins. Check current opening hours and what food is available before making this your lunch stop. A cellar-door visit and a full restaurant meal are different plans.

### Main Ridge Estate, Red Hill

This is the clearest advance-booking rule in the shortlist: **prebook your dog, keep it on a lead, sit outdoors, and bring no more than one dog per booking**. Confirm availability before travelling rather than arriving with an unlisted dog.

For a wider wine-country plan, see our [dog-friendly wineries guide](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/journal/dog-friendly-wineries-mornington-peninsula/>). It separates published policies from those still needing confirmation.

## Other venues: ask before making plans

These places appeared in an earlier version of this guide. We could not establish current pet access from the official pages checked. That is an evidence gap, not a finding that dogs are banned.

Venue and town | What still needs confirmation |

[Nordie Café](<https://nordie.com.au/>), Red Hill | The current dog policy and which garden or courtyard tables are permitted. |

Georgie Bass Café & Cookery, Flinders | Current operation and pet policy could not be verified through its former official website. Do not rely on the earlier listing without checking directly. |

[The Somers General](<https://www.thesomersgeneral.com.au/>), Somers | The current dog policy and permitted seating area. |

[Portsea Hotel](<https://portseahotel.com.au/reservation/>), Portsea | Dog access to the beer garden. The reservation page says the beer garden is for walk-ins; an indoor booking does not secure a garden table. |

[The Rocks](<https://www.therocksmornington.com.au/contact-us/>), Mornington | Whether dogs may join you on the deck and whether that table can be reserved. |

[Many Little Bar & Dining](<https://www.manylittle.com.au/>), Red Hill South | Whether pet dogs are admitted and which dining area can accommodate them. |

[Rare Hare](<https://rarehare.com.au/about/>), Merricks North | Dog access and any lawn or dining restrictions. |

[Red Hill Brewery](<https://www.redhillbrewery.com.au/>), Red Hill South | Current dog access, permitted seating and service arrangements. |

### Foxeys Hangout and Quealy Winemakers

An earlier version described both as confirmed no-dogs venues. We could not re-establish those statements on the current [Foxeys dining page](<https://foxeys-hangout.com.au/about/winery-lunch-at-foxeys/>) or [Quealy cellar-door page](<https://quealy.com.au/pages/cellar-door>). **Do not assume either has changed its policy or now welcomes pets.** Contact the venue before including it in a dog-friendly itinerary.

## Before you leave home

Ask: “We are bringing one dog. Can you confirm a table in the permitted area, whether it is covered, and any lead or booking conditions?” That gets a more useful answer than simply asking whether the venue is dog-friendly.

Check the current kitchen hours, pack water and a bowl, and allow a walk before a sit-down meal. Use our [dog-friendly beach guide](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/journal/dog-friendly-beaches-mornington-peninsula/>) for beach planning and check the current signs at the access point. For accommodation and a broader itinerary, see the [dog-friendly Peninsula weekend guide](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/journal/dog-friendly-mornington-peninsula/>).

Official policy pages checked on 18 September 2026. Unconfirmed entries remain unconfirmed; this check does not certify every venue as dog-friendly. Venue rules and seating availability can change.

Questions readers actually ask

## FAQ

Which cafés on the Mornington Peninsula allow dogs?

Commonfolk Coffee in Mornington explicitly welcomes dogs in its back courtyard, reached by side access. Green Olive at Red Hill also advertises a dog-friendly farm dining experience; confirm the seating area when booking. These policies were checked on the venues' websites on 18 September 2026.

Which Peninsula pubs and breweries allow dogs?

Flinders Hotel permits leashed dogs on the deck. St Andrews Beach Brewery in Fingal permits leashed dogs in its outdoor beer garden. Ask about a suitable table and weather cover before travelling.

Do you need to book ahead with a dog?

Main Ridge Estate requires dogs to be prebooked, on a lead and outdoors, with a maximum of one dog per booking. Commonfolk and St Andrews Beach Brewery keep some tables for walk-ins, but that does not guarantee a dog-suitable table. Always mention the dog when reserving.

Are outdoor tables always dog-friendly?

No. Outdoor seating does not establish a pet policy. Where we could not verify a policy from the official pages checked, we mark it unconfirmed and recommend contacting the venue before making plans.
