The one-night Peninsula trip only works if you resist the temptation to cram it full. This version stays south and gives equal weight to coastline and lunch. Flinders gives you a clean village base. Cape Schanck supplies the weather and the scale. Moke makes dinner a walk within the village when its Thursday to Saturday service suits your date; otherwise, book dinner at Flinders Hotel. By the time you are leaving Pt. Leo after lunch the next day, it feels like you were away for longer than twenty-four hours.

## Day 1 Village, cape and dinner

- Midday

### [Quarters at Flinders Hotel](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/stay/flinders-hotel/>)

Arrive in Flinders by midday. Confirm your Quarters check-in time and any luggage arrangements directly before leaving for the cape.

- Afternoon

### [Cape Schanck Boardwalk](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/explore/cape-schanck-boardwalk/>)

Make the boardwalk your first coastal stop. Check park access and the weather before leaving Flinders.

- Evening

### [Moke Dining](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/eat/moke-dining/>)

Moke serves dinner Thursday to Saturday. Book for your date and fit the afternoon walk around the reservation; Flinders Hotel is a nearby dinner fallback.

Night 1 · Where you sleep

Stay at Quarters at Flinders Hotel tonight. Confirm check-in and dinner for your date before you travel.

## Day 2 Coast, art and lunch

- Morning

### [Bushrangers Bay Walk](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/explore/bushrangers-bay-walk/>)

Bushrangers Bay is a 5.4 km return walk of about two hours, with a narrow sandy path and steep stairs. Start early; use the Cape Schanck lookouts instead if weather or lunch timing cuts the window.

- Midday

### [Pt. Leo Estate](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/wine/pt-leo-estate/>)

Finish with a late lunch and art before heading home.

## Booking checklist

### [Cape Schanck Boardwalk](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/explore/cape-schanck-boardwalk/>)

Cape Schanck gives you basalt formations, pounding water and lighthouse views within a compact coastal precinct. Several lookouts offer views over the geological formations, while the wooden staircase and boardwalk descend to the beach and rock platform. The descent includes stairs, so distinguish a lookout visit from the full route down and back when planning around mobility. Choose your route and allow time for the return climb, pauses and conditions. Check Parks Victoria's current visitor advice and follow on-site signs before setting out.

### [Bushrangers Bay Walk](<https://peninsulainsider.com.au/explore/bushrangers-bay-walk/>)

From the eastern carpark at Cape Schanck Lighthouse, this walk leads through coastal scrub to Bushrangers Bay. Parks Victoria describes a 5.4 km return trip taking about two hours. Allow more time for stops and the return climb: the sandy, narrow, unsealed path includes steep stairs. Dogs are not permitted; check Parks Victoria entry requirements for assistance dogs. Swimming is not recommended. The beach is unpatrolled, with strong currents, rips, rocky reefs and large waves, and emergency access is limited. Check Parks Victoria changed conditions and current fire advice before setting out. Stay on the track, follow signs protecting nesting shorebirds, and allow enough daylight for the return.

When Red Hill is booked out and Sorrento feels like a queue, there is another version of the Peninsula weekend that runs south of everything, closer to the ocean, and slower on purpose.

Short days, cheap rooms, empty dining rooms, a fire in every cellar door with a hearth, and a coast that looks like a different country in a southerly. Winter is the Peninsula's most underrated season and the one that gives the region back to the people who actually live here.
