Polperro feels smaller and more intimate than some of the region's trophy estates, which is exactly its appeal. The cellar door is tucked into the vines with a line of sight over the ridge, the pours are thoughtful, and the whole place carries the tone of a producer that cares more about the wine than the performance around it.
The Pennon Hill labels are often the sweet spot if you want quality without chasing the top tier. Pair a tasting with lunch and you have one of the gentlest half-days in Red Hill South.
