Why we’d go

The cellar door where the wines are already sold out and the conversation with Kevin is the product.

Hurley is built around three meticulously farmed blocks, Lodestone, Garamond, and Hommage, and the Pinot Noirs that emerge from them are allocation-only, routinely top Peninsula line-ups in blind tastings, and age on the back of a vintage as well as anything in the region. Kevin Bell's project is the clearest example on the Peninsula of what happens when a single producer obsesses over a small number of blocks for a long time.

Tastings are by appointment and unhurried: Kevin or a senior team member pouring, walking block by block, explaining how a hundred metres of vineyard can change a wine's personality. Expect to buy. Expect to wait. Expect to understand more about Peninsula Pinot in an hour than you could absorb from a week of reviews.

This is the cellar door for people who already love Peninsula Pinot and want to know what it can become. Taste the Garamond before you buy anything else.

If you only do one thing

Taste the Garamond Pinot Noir before you buy anything else, and buy a mixed six to understand how the three blocks read against each other.
