Why we’d go

A village pub with room to move: open fires for winter, a deck and a big beer garden for the warmer months, and a kitchen that keeps the pub classics alongside a changing specials board.

The Heritage is the pub in the middle of Balnarring village: a 1930s heritage home on a two-acre block, with its original open fires inside, a sunny deck, and a large beer garden with a grass area and sandpit where children can play. The owner-operators have set out to make it a place for entertaining again, and the format suits an intimate dinner as readily as a large family table.

The kitchen runs two lists. A pub favourites menu covers the classics, from a chicken parma or schnitzel to pub-style fish and chips, and a specials board changes with what has come in. Through winter there is a Sunday roast, served until it sells out. Live music plays on the deck most Sunday afternoons, and a private dining room takes functions from April to September.

It opens Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30am and is closed Monday and Tuesday. Call to book a table. Pets are not allowed in the venue, so this is not the stop for a dog day.
